We came in maybe within 10-15 mins of opening on a Friday and the restaurant was already busy. Greeted warmly by the ladies you can't help but feel like the service will probably be off to a good start. I ordered a Regular Tendon/Tempura bowl that comes with tempura shrimp, squash, Maitake mushroom, seaweed, shishito pepper, and half egg with rice and miso soup. Blown away by the tempura egg because you rarely ever see that anywhere especially with a runny yolk to coat your rice with that extra creaminess. Tempura Maitake mushroom had that great meaty earthiness to it. And the seaweed blew me away by how crispy it was like a potato chip. Decor and cleanliness inside had a simple but balanced feel that it adhered to its theme. Service was well attentive and relatively quick. Their menu has many options and combos to choose from. A definite plus to give many choices and variations of the tempura/noodles/bowls.

Food was soo good! Will need to come back to try other items. With a name Tendon Tempura, definitely needed to have tempura. It was really good and crispy. And different from usual tempura I've had.

Going south and making my way to Torrance, there came the chance to hit Carlos Junior. I have heard uncountable times that Torrance is basically the heart of Japanese foods in LA, but never been exposed to this tempura place before. Lucky me, it came into the top recommended list from my friend who's been there and loves it. Given the awesome reviews, I have expected long line especially it's Saturday dinner time. However since we're only group of two, we straight away got seats by the bar. The place as expected came with traditional Japanese design and I could see the customers varied from family to groups of youth. The flawless and warm service totally made me reminiscing my good 7-month experience staying in Tokyo. We started with Toro Sashimi as appetizer given we couldn't hold ourselves from ordering it despite knowing the place was well-known for their tempura. We certainly made the right call as they're super fresh and the thick slices were surely satisfying. As for the main, first timer to-go would surely be their Premium Tempura bowl featuring different kinds of seafood with egg and some veggie tempura as well. I loved how it wasn't overly greasy and the sauce blended in so well. I myself preferred bowl than the plate as the sauce was premixed and I just felt it marinated better. The complementary miso soup was comforting and coming as perfect pair.

Came here on a Sunday during lunch time and was pleasantly surprised to see there was no line. Service was fantastic and servers were very friendly. I tried the combination plate with the tempura and salmon bowl. I was sad to see that the salmon bowl was smaller than I anticipated, nonetheless, the bowl was tasty. The tempuras were lightly coated which I appreciated because I feel like a lot of other restaurants heavily coat their tempuras and make it more greasy. I also loved the tempura sauce it came with loaded with radish. Parking isn't the best though, there's a tiny lot and you most likely will have to street park.
